Pilates Mat

What is pilates? It is a form of exercise developed by German born Joseph Pilates to help train WWI prisoners recovering from injuries. He immigrated to the US in 1926 opening a studio in NY where ballet dancers popularized his method.
The exercise focuses on the "core" or "powerhouse" muscles of the abdomen and spine increasing strength, flexibility control and circulation. Performing exercises slowly, while concentrating on breathing and proper muscle activation presents a demanding and challenging workout.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing to relax, socks and a towel.
